Prelim evaluation

From creating our Prelim we have come across some technical difficulties and have learnt many new skills, which can help us when filming our opening sequence for the thriller. We have recently learnt that all the footage filmed will not be used for our final product and we were only able to produce less than 2 minutes worth of footage. In the future, we aim to record more clips than needed so that we have a variety of choices when editing. Another problem that we encountered with was the tripod, because we filmed in front of a reflected screen (the glass doors) we were able to see the camera and tripod when filming. While editing we became aware of the gap above our actors heads, unfortunately we were unable to change this as we had a limited time to film, but when we begin filming for our thriller we would position the camera so that there will be no extra space above their heads. From creating our digital storyboard beforehand, it enabled us to plan what different types of shots we wanted to use such as close up, shot reverse shot, panning and many more. By shooting the same scene twice but from different angles, we were able to limit the amount of continuity issue we would have faced which made our prelim flow easily and seem as if it was happening in one shot. By creating our prelim we have learnt how to add text, change the font and move the positioning of it by using the wireframe. For our thriller opening, to improve our clip we will make time to create a soundtrack on soundtrack pro to make it seem professional and more enjoyable to watch. Overall the creation of our prelim was successful because we have learnt new editing skills, have become aware of any problems that may occur and can change our planning/filming methods to prevent it from happening again.
