Genre and Sub Genre

What is meant by a Sub Genre?

A Sub Genre is a Genre within a Genre for example a thriller Sub Genre could be an action-thriller or a crime-thriller ect.  Personally my favourite Thriller Sub Genre is an Action- Thriller because Action Thrillers are usually very fast paced and require a keen eye to keep up with the plot of the story, and i like a challenge occasionally. When it comes to deciding on our very own thriller, the subject of what thriller sub genre we will go into will arise. When this question arises, the work we have done on Genre's and Sub Genres will become rather handy.

Also, the film openings on the Blog could come in handy due to the fact that we could use intertextuality and incorporate some of their features into our own.

What is meant by a Genre?

A genre is a certain type of film although it can be used for other types of media as well. From doing research I learnt that a genre is formed by the use of conventions. For example a horror film would consist of different conventions than a comedy. But Some films can also cross between Genres like action- thriller films. Personally my favourite types of film Genre is either Action or Horror. Although Action films are generalised as 'male films' many females participate in watching them also and i like the fact that they can relate to both sexes, all types of age group and generally..anyone. also, although Horrors don't have well planned story lines, the sense of adrenaline you get from watching one makes the film Genre so much more interesting.
